Meet Pete!
I was born on January 19, 1982 is a politician who served as mayor of South Bend, Indiana, since 2012. At the young age of 37, not only have I been mayor but I have also served in the Navy, which makes me one of the only two veterans running for Democratic Party nomination, and I was a former consultant for Mckinsley & Company. I am the youngest candidate in the 2020 Presidential race as well as the first openly gay man to participate in a major Presidential election. I am candidate from the younger side of spectrum, in which I am building this campaign off of. I am part of the generation that grew up with school shootings and in worse economic standings compared to many other American citizens. I will ensure that America's future is better than its past.

Immigration- I envision a grand bargain/political compromise regarding our immigration policies.
Healthcare- I believe that healthcare should be a choice for people between the plan that they are already on, whether it is employer sponsored or union based.
- The alternative would a government healthcare plan, the Affordable Care Act, that would be available for people to opt in to. This plan is also known as the public option. - The plan will cost $1.5 trillion over the next decade, making the cost come out to $150 billion a year for the public option. - The way that the plan will be paid for will be through getting rid of the Trump corporate tax cuts and by allowing the government to negotiate drug prices. - I will expand the federal subsidies for private insurance sold in the Affordable Care Act marketplace in order to make healthcare more affordable for people with lower incomes. People in states that do not have expanded Medicaid in their state would be automatically enrolled. - There would also be a cap on out of pocket costs for seniors that are on Medicare. Education
