About Nicole Malliotakis
Nicole Malliotakis was first elected for the New York State Assembly on November 2, 2010, where she successfully defeated an opponent who served two terms in the Assembly. She was raised by immigrant parents where her father immigrated from Greece and her mother was a cuban exile of the Castro dictatorship. She currently represents a district spanning from the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island. Malliotakis was the first hispanic-American elected from Richmond County. She was then re-elected for her third term in November 2014 with an overwhelming 73% of the vote.
Before being elected, Malliotakis served as a liaison for the State Senator John Marchi and Governor George Pataki. After his departure from the office, she worked as a public affairs manager for the Con Edison, focusing on the state’s energy, economic, and environmental policies. After Hurricane Sandy, she played a major role in the recovery. She also successfully fought to restore and expand transit service in both Brooklyn and Staten Island, improve programs for senior citizens, and reform education in our state. She also worked to improve New York’s economic climate and reduce the tax burden on the small businesses and residents. She is a passionate advocate for the animal rights and strengthening animal cruelty laws. |
Homelessness:
Ever since Bill de Blasio took office, the homeless population in our city’s shelters and streets have increased dramatically. A June report issued by the NYC Department of Homeless Services shared that street homeless has gone up nearly 40% this past year alone. |

Jobs and The Economy:
Nicole would authorize the expansion of a property tax exemption for the city’s veterans and implement a requirement that a portion of city contracts be awarded to veteran-owned businesses. |
|
Project Management:
Currently programs designed to help mentally ill individuals do not target the severely mentally ill who are most likely to become homeless, hospitalized, incarcerated and create a danger for themselves, the public and the police. |

Education:
New York State spends $22,593 per student per year to educate our children, more than any other state in the nation and 87% above the national average. But, when it comes to New York City, it doesn’t seem to make it to the classrooms. A big chunk of money goes towards contracts with vendors and consultants.

Immigration:
As the daughter of immigrants, Nicole understands the idea of the American Dream and has advocated for Washington to fix the broken immigration system that has left so many shadows. While Nicole will continue the immigration policy put in place by Mayor Ed Koch and continued through Mayor Bloomberg, Nicole has been leading the opposition against Bill de Blasio’s policy of protecting individuals who are here illegally and have committed crimes against other immigrants and citizens.
