The mosque is one the most important religious identities in the Arabian Peninsula. It is a place of prayer and place where Islamic people can pray to the one and only god Allah. Like all Abrahamic religions, each have their own place to pray to God. On the side of this writing assignment you can see the art of the mosque. Based on the Islamic website we found, it says “mosques developed into complex architectural structures built in diverse styles, the one requirement of all mosques continues to be based on the earliest model: a designation of space for the purpose of prayer. The early mosque served an equally important function that thousands of mosques continue to serve today: The mosque is a place where Muslims foster a collective identity through prayer and attend to their common concerns. A Muslim city typically has numerous mosques but only a few congregational or Friday mosques where the obligatory Friday noon prayers are performed” (1). This explanation on how the architecture and religious of mosque is important. The major symbol we will be using for the art assignment is shown below.
(2). We are also incorporating the language of Islam and saying Islam. It’s pretty ironic. The religion of Islam was founded by Muhammed and he believed that there was only one god to believe in. Allah the one and only. At this time his influence inspired many of the Arabian Peninsula. Islam was born (the word not a person) and the meaning is “absolute submission to a unique and personal god, Allah.” (3). An example of the Islamic language is الإسلام this is translated to Islam. This is an example of the art we will be using for the assignment. If you’re wondering what the mosque looks like it is like this…... and in the inside it looks like this…...
(4)
The history of the mosque. Many know that the Islamic religion originally began from Muhammad thinking that there is the one true god. This religion came to few conflicts that at least we know of. One is when after Muhammad influenced half of Arabia, some that were influenced were uninspired. They had no interest in the belief. The second conflict is when after Muhammed’s death, there were two different groups. One was called the Sunni and the other was the Shagari. The Sunni believed that any person can be the group leader of the religion. But Shagari on the other hand believes that if there was a person that was in Muhammed’s bloodline were to be the group leader. Doing this assignment gave us a connection with each other and being friends. It’s like we all just met and became friends. This assignment helped us understand the religion of Islam, the culture, art, origin, and conflicts.

Major Beliefs
Worshippers of the monotheistic religion are known as Muslims, which means, “one who submits to the will of Allah.” Experts predict that it will take over Christianity. Islam major world religion is promoted by the prophet Muhammad in Arabia in the 7th century. Islam accepted the surrender to the will of Allah. Allah is viewed as the sole God, creator, sustainer, and restorer of the world. They also believe in the angels of God, the books of God, and the day of judgement in which humans will be judged for their actions in the divine decree, they believe that god is almighty and strong, and that he has angels who carry out his orders through the universe, The books of God are the books that were sent to Allah’s messengers which include Muhammad with the Qur’an, Jesus with the gospel, and many other people. Although they have many beliefs, each and every one of them are very important.
I slam values
The first value of Islam is life meaning life or death. When you take the life of another human being you are basically killing all of humanity in the eyes of Islam. The second value is religion, Islam is very serious when it comes to religion. Insulting Islam or Muhammad can make you a criminal. The third value is intellect or being educated. For you to do anything in Islam you need to be educated. You can’t even pray if you are not educated. The fourth value is family, if you are a Muslim man you can have up to four wives. The fifth and last value is wealth and prosperity. Muslims earn as much as they desire but the poor has to be given a share too.
Mosques
In Islam, there are mosques that act as religious temples that are used for many events, such as religious education, worshipping, and even simply to discuss things about everyday life. Mosques have a different appearance based on the region and how many Muslims populate that region. There are many rituals including washing your whole body except your torsos and taking off your shoes before entering the mosque to perform the things they need to do. Mosques are used as a religious temple because it includes sacred texts, charities in which the muslims donate money, and more. A specific mosque is used for one of the most important events in a Muslim’s life, Haji, which is located in Mecca. Mosques are very convenient and important to all those who are Islamic.
Symbolic Places
There are many symbolic places that are important during the life of Muhammad which meant it was also important to present-day Muslims. One of the most holiest places of Islam is the shrine Ka’ba. It was built around a black stone relic and the stone is always in the center so everyone can pray facing the stone relic. The shrine Ka’ba is located in Mecca along with the stone. The stone represents the link between Allah and was believed to be sent from Allah as a gift. The second most holiest places of Islam is Medina also known as the “City Of The Prophet” which is located in western Saudi Arabia. Medina is the place where Muhammad fled after being chased out of Mecca and where he also started to attract some of his first followers.
Islam’s view of Afterlife
In Islam’s view, the afterlife is very important. They believed that after people die, there will be a continued existence of soul and a transform physical existence after death. They also believe that there will be a day of judgement when all humans will be divided between the eternal destinations of paradise and hell. Until the day of judgement, decreased souls remain in their graves awaiting their resurrection. Those bound for hell will suffer in their graves, while those bound for heaven will be in peace until that time. There will be a day called “the last day”, when “the last day” comes, the world will be destroyed and Allah (the god) will raise all people and jinn from the dead to be judged. “The last day” is also called “Day of Standing up”, “Day of Separation”, “Day of Reckoning”, “Day of judgment”, “The Encompassing Day of Hour”.
Central Administration
There is a central administration for the belief system of Islam. It is organized by a prophet of Islam by Muhammad. Muhammad was born in 570 A.D. in Mecca. Mecca is a city in western Saudi Arabia. Muslims consider it to be the holiest city of Islam. However, after Muhammad had died, the caliphs became Muhammad’s successors. Caliphs are the spiritual leaders and successors of Muhammad. They continuously used this method until it was abolished in 1924. However, in the current present, Islam now has Imams that are individually in charge of a specific mosque or religious temple. Imams do not have as much power as the caliphs but they are in charge of the prayers in the church of very populated mosques.
