Donald J. Trump was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York. He excelled academically in New York Military Academy during his high school career and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finances with a degree in economics in 1968. Trump was an aspiring real estate developer who acquired his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump and Son, which was renamed Trump Organization. Trump soon became involved in various business indentures and investments that prompted public recognition. Trump is the founder of the Grand Hyatt, Trump Tower, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Trump's Castle, and Television City. His renowned accomplishments have rendered him the coveted Mobil Five Star Award and Five Star Diamond Award winner from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Trump also operates various golf courses and resorts and is the founder of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. In 2004, Trump starred in the NBC reality series, The Apprentice, followed by the spin-off series, The Celebrity Apprentice. He is an accomplished author, real estate developer, entertainer, and contributor for the Republican cause. Trump is married to Melania Trump and is a proud father of Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany and Barron.
-POLITICAL PLATFORM-
IMMIGRATION REFORM
Trump is an advocate for requiring all illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin prior to eligibility for citizenship. Trump wants to build a border wall. To do so, he will increase fees on temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats, increase fees on border crossing cards, increase fees on North American Free Trade Agreement worker visas, and increase feels at ports of entry to the United States. Trump plans to issue nationwide E-Verify, defund sanctuary cities, end birthright citizenship, and enforce stricter penalties for overstaying a visa.
TAX REFORM
Trump supports lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth and stability. Trump wants to initiate tax relief for middle class Americans in hopes of achieving the "American Dream." He wants to remove the federal income tax for all individuals earning less than $25,000 a year and couples earning less than $50,000 a year. Trump has devised a five-part tax plan that consists of four income tax brackets that determines the percentage of income that one will be required to pay.
EDUCATION
In regards to the Common Core initiative, Trump is against it because he believes the states should not implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants. He believes a competitive system would improve education in public schools. Furthermore, Trump believes that funding for the Department of Education should be minimal.
FOREIGN POLICY
Trump is against the Iran Nuclear Deal because an agreement with Iran in regards to nuclear weapons would greatly impact an alliance with Israel. He is against the Iraq War and believes that Afghanistan should be the primary focus due to the September 11 attacks. He supports Russia's military intervention in Syria and believes that the United States can weaken ISIS by targeting their wealth. Trump suggests that the National Security Agency should proceed with its surveillance. In addition, he perceives China a threat to the American economy and military forces.
