Origins

Beginnings
Christianity started about 2000 years ago in Judea (present-day Israel) with Jesus Christ and His faithful group of disciples. During this period, Judea was a cross-cultural mecca of bustling cities and farms. The emperor of Rome was the the ruler back then. The Israelites at the time hated Roman rule. The polytheistic cultural beliefs of Rome were pagan and intrusive to Israelite life. Some Israelites saw that their only hope was to conform to this change. Others became religious zealots who formed pockets of guerilla resistance against Rome. Still, others withdrew themselves into the Judean wilderness to study Israelite law and wait for the eventual coming of their promised Messiah (savior).
Founder
In Christianity, the founder is Jesus Christ. He was the person who started the whole business with Christianity. However, his founding wouldn’t have done much without the help of his followers: apostles, disciples, and missionaries.
In conclusion, Jesus Christ is the known founder of Christianity because he started the ideas.
Supreme Being
The supreme being in Christianity is God. However, God is also reserved as “The Father in the New Testament”. The supreme being can also be used to refer to Jesus Christ or the Christian Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Also, the supreme being is the ruler of the universe. In other words, Jesus Christ is the ruler of all Christians and the Christian religion.
In the Christian religion, there are many positions used to identify both importance and influence that religious leaders have on individuals. The commonly found leaders are known as priests. Their jobs are to lead prayers and more. Another leader is a bishop. A bishop is in charge of the priests and what they do. It can be said that these officials are very important.
Symbols
The symbol of Christianity is a crucifix. It is a cross with a representation of Jesus’ body, hanging from it. It is mainly used in Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and Eastern Orthodox churches. It is used to represent Christianity, because it symbolizes Jesus’ sacrifice- his death by crucifixion. As a result, the crucifix is used commonly for this purpose.
The Spread
Since Christianity was founded, it has been a popular religion since then. It was due to the fact that the religion spread around the region. Several factors led to this. First, Jesus had disciples, or followers, helping him spread the message. He also had help from a missionary named St. Paul. These people carried the message until the message was well known. Without them, Christianity wouldn’t have been as popular.

Sects of Christianity
The Branches/Divisions
Christianity is the biggest religion in the world and it has teachings based off of Judaism. Both religions share a common father named Abraham. The 3 main branches of Christianity are Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestants. Roman Catholics represents the practice of having a church ran by the Pope, Eastern Orthodox represents the Greeks and Eastern Russians have also had a continuation on churches in Europe, and the Protestants began in 16th century during a reformation which took place in Germany, Switzerland and Britain. Protestants do not follow what the pope says, nor follow the Catholic church's beliefs and traditions but they believe that reading the bible is one the most important thing to do. These 3 branches are also the main sects of the religion. Sects are a group of people with a slightly different beliefs based off its actual religion. Divisions were made, and began with Christianity splitting into Egyptian Coptics, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox. Egyptian Coptics broke down to Ethiopian Christians, Roman Catholics broke down to Protestants, and Eastern Orthodox broke down to Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthodox. Then the Protestants broke down to Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Baptists, Evangelicals, and Mormons. The belief system divided into branches, sects and divisions because there were disagreements and some people just thought of different beliefs but still kept the same religion.

For example the main group was eastern Christianity and now there is Egyptian Coptics, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox. This is a difference because now instead of there being only one belief inside of Christianity there is now more. Since there are different groups they all might have changed a little bit in the religion to what they believed. Another difference is the new and old testaments. These are different because the new testament is an improved version of the old testament. The main difference between the new and old testament as that the Old Testament was written primarily in Hebrew and the new testament was written primarily in Greek.

Could the divide in the belief system have been avoided?
The divide in the belief subsystem of Christians couldn't be avoided. Christians are worldwide and all follow one rule, to praise God nobody else. " Christians denominations worldwide in 2012. That is up from 500 in 1800 and 39,000 in 2008". Christianity is the top religion that most people follow it would be very hard to divide in belief systems because they follow one God. There were also many missionaries and pastors that went around so dividing the belief systems wouldn't really work.
