De Blasio started his journey at one of United States' most prestigious schools, New York University, where he received his Bachelors. He finished his education when receiving his MBA from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. After University, De Blasio entered politics in 1989 to work on David Dinkins NYC mayoral campaign. He later managed Hillary Clinton's 2000 campaign for the United States Senate. In 2009, he became New York City's Public Advocate. Additionally, he represented Brooklyn as a city council member.

Over the past four years as Mayor, Bill De Blasio has committed his time to provide pre-K for all children. He believes that every kid deserves the chance to go to a great school. Mayor De Blasio has allowed approximately 70,000 four-year-olds to attend free, full-day, high quality pre-K. He has made the SAT free for all high school juniors. De Blasio has helped increase the graduation rates to an all time high, 72.6%. Additionally, free school lunch have been provided for all NYC Public School Students. Mayor De Blasio also plans to bring universal, full-day early childhood education to every three-year old. The current Mayor and his team has established 69 community schools in a year that serve more than 110,000 students. These schools provide additional family support, health and mental health services. If and when re-elected, he promises to expand these programs to help everyone receive a fair and excellent education, that they rightfully deserve.

De Blasio plans on creating 100,000 brand new jobs to support his fellow New Yorkers and to give 400,000 residents the quality of life they have long deserved. He has also released a 10-year plan to invest in new industries, raise wages, train New Yorkers, and strengthen the middle class.

Mayor De Blasio and his team has created a program called Thrive NYC, which is a combination of new and existing programs. It takes a public-health approach towards mental illness, with an emphasis on prevention and public education. Thrive NYC is an $850 million program with a aim to hire approximately four hundred mental health clinicians for high-need communities. It will also provide mental health training to a quarter million New Yorkers.
Public Safety
During the past years, De Blasio and his team has made NYC the safest city in the United States. Bill De Blasio reduced stop and frisk by 93% and does not plan to stop until it is completely eliminated. He has brought the police and community closer together by driving crime to a record low and deploying approximately 2,000 extra police all around New York City. Additionally, the Mayor is investing in bullet-resistant windows for NYPD patrol cars, 20,000 more ballistic helmets, and 6,000 more bullet-resistant vests. Bill De Blasio and his team has made reforms at the Administration for Children’s Services by implementing new leadership and receiving input from nationally recognized experts to make sure that NYC’s children are safe.

De Blasio strongly believes that subway homelessness is his problem. He says, “we need to get the homeless off of the subways so people can feel safe going home.” De Blasio has built and preserved affordable homes and has made rent freeze for two years. De Blasio also finalized more than $98 million in contracts to make many apartment buildings into shelters.
