Behind the scenes
Francis Lewis H.S. mock election!
Students worked in political campaign groups to rigorously research a variety of information; campaign websites, nonpartisan websites, media, and oppositional pieces. After a sufficient amount of research was done, students elected their mock candidate and began their campaign.

Students were split up in their political campaign to complete an informative website, eye catching flyers, educational pamphlets and a creative video commercial.

After students completed their websites, flyers, pamphlets, and commercials, they hit the hallways of Francis Lewis High School! Students informed their peers of the political platforms the candidates were running under. This involved a lot of conversation. Some candidates had the opportunity to visit other social studies classrooms. Our candidates presented a stump speech to try and win over their peer's support. Other students campaigned in the cafeteria and library to target a variety of voters. Students reached all corners of the schools.

Finally, after all the hard work and campaigning, it was Election Day! Students went to the library to cast their votes. The government classes urged all students to participate. They handed out pins, stickers, and pins to those who voted. The students brought Election Day to life at Francis Lewis High School.
