Who is Joe Biden?

Joe Biden, born Joseph Robinette Biden on November 20, 1942 in Pennsylvania, was raised in Delaware, where he got his bachelor's degree in history and political science at the University of Delaware. He later received his law degree from Syracuse University in New York.
After graduating from law school, Joe briefly worked as an attorney in Delaware before turning to politics and serving on the New Castle county council. Tragedy struck when his wife, Neilia, and daughter, Naomi, were killed and sons Hunter and Beau were injured in a car accident. Even so, he joined the U.S. senate at the age of 29 and won reelection six times while raising Beau and Hunter as a single father.
As a senator, Joe focused on foreign relations, criminal justice, and drug policy while serving on the Senate's Foreign Relations and Judiciary Committees. During his time in Senate, Joe was widely recognized for his support of environmental protection and fight against the National Rifle Association (NRA) and violence against women. In 1993, he secured the passage of the Brady background check bill, and in 1994, he championed the passage of bans on assault weapons. He wrote the Violence Against Women Act, a legislation that criminalizes violence against women, changing the U.S.'s views on domestic and sexual assault. Joe also called for protecting the environment by introducing the Global Climate Protection Act.
Joe resigned from the Senate when he was elected to be vice president in 2009. As vice president, Joe was an influential adviser to Obama and a vocal supporter of issues like raising living standards, reducing gun violence, and cancer. He and Obama passed the Affordable Care Act, the Recovery Act, a plan to prevent another Great Depression, and supported marriage equality.
In April 2020, Joe announced that he would be running for president. With his leadership qualities and drive to fight for what he and the people support, Joe is confident in his ability to represent the United States as president in 2020.

Why Joe?
"We are in a battle for the soul of America. It’s time to remember who we are. We’re Americans: tough and resilient. We choose hope over fear. Science over fiction. Truth over lies. And unity over division. We treat each other with dignity, we leave nobody behind, and we give hate no safe harbor. We are the United States of America. And together, there is not a single thing we cannot do."
